Upon arrival at Evergreen, we were kindly greeted by the front desk, escorted by a nurse back to our room, and given time to "settle in." At that point, not knowing how long we would keep Little Long inside me, I was less than thrilled with the idea of spending weeks on bed rest in the hospital but was prepared to do whatever I needed to help Little Long grow big and strong before he was delivered.
Luckily, Matthew's mom was in town and already at our house so we put together a short packing list and she was able to bring up a night's worth of things for us as we wondered what the coming hours, days, and weeks would look like for us.
The admitting nurse couldn't have been any more wonderful to us. She calmly took my vitals, gave me a hospital bracelet, asked me if we'd chosen a name for baby, gave me a tour of the room, and connected a heart doppler to me so she could monitor the baby's heartbeat.
