Still Growing!

It has been 3 weeks since Wyatt has lost any weight!  He's up to 1140 grams today - 2 pounds, 8 ounces!  He'll be a pound over birth weight any day and is well on his way to 3 pounds.

As the doctor noted this morning, more weight means more lung tissue which makes breathing easier.  And with breathing his primary challenge, this is great news!  He has started an inhaler breathing treatment now that he receives twice a day (fluticasone) in an effort to give his lungs the boost they need.

His head is larger than last week, up to 26.5 c (24.5 last week) and he's longer, measuring 36.2 cm (up from 34cm last week).  We're happy to be "stuck" in this growing pattern!

No surprise with the weight gain, he is on a new fortifier but still 30 calories.  This is a routine change because of his size!  He's still receiving 20 CCs of milk with that fortifier.  Yesterday I got to feed him a little milk through a syringe while he was warded with more milk for sucking and swallowing the milk.  This is a great first step to that tough preemie sequence of suck, swallow, breathe!
