The Infection is Back

Wyatt had a relatively good day.  He is up to one pound, twelve ounces getting close to his 2 pounder party each day :)  

Unfortunately, the now two days negative blood culture was positive today, telling us the infection still exists.  They did an ultrasound of his abdomen today to ensure the infection hadn't taken up residence there, building in a particular area.  As far as we know that isn't the case!  That said, they are increasing the interval of antibiotics in an effort to kick this bug.  With the regular blood cultures to check for infection, Wyatt's blood count is declining.  Because of this, they're doing a blood transfusion tonight to increase his blood count from 27 to a more typical low 40s.  They credit the low blood count with the daily blood draws they've been doing and nothing else concerning.

Daddy got to hold him again (it was his turn, after all) and they had a long "kangaroo care" session of snuggling.
